Lapis Lazuli

An exhibition exploring the WB.Yeats poem Lapis Lazuli. Organised by the Hamilton Gallery, Sligo and in conjunction with the Irish Embassy, China. The exhibition opened on the 6th June 2024 at Choi Centre - Cloud House, No 16 Huantie Zhixian Section a, Jiangtai, Chaoyang District, Beijing. 22 artists were invited to respond to the poem. My response was to the line 'Pitch like KIng Billy bomb balls until the town lie beaten flat' . I created six oil paintings that are in a sequence. The invitation to create artwork for the exhibition happened at the same time that Russia decided to attack Ukraine.  The artwork was influenced by the images coming out of Ukraine.
